Bhoomika is one of the successful heroines in the Telugu film industry for a few years. In the later years she did not have many offers and thus left the film industry completely. She then got into poetry and have written many poems in Hindi and also published a book with her poems. She soon found that poetry is not for her and then married a ‘rich’ business man named ‘Bharat Thakur’ from her native place. As she got married people thought she has completely left the film industry and would restrict herself to her home.

But Bhoomika had other plans. She has entered the field of film production and has established a production house named ‘Down Town’, which is of course funded by her husband. She said that film production is her husband’s passion and this is not just established for her sake. She then went on saying that, though she belongs to Punjab she is very much related to Tollywood and thus started the production house here in Andhra.

This production house was launched in Hyderabad by veteran producer Dr. RamaNaidu. RamaNaidu wished all the best to ‘Down Town’ and wished that others also invest in the film industry which would help in its prosperity. This inaugural function was attended by Jr NTR, V.V. Vinayak, Chota K Naidu, Ileana and a few other prominent personalities from the Tolywood.

As every ends we can see many of the Bollywood actresses being flooded with offers and earning crores of rupees. These offers, of course are not film offers but offers to perform live in hotels and restaurants for the Christmas eve or the New Year celebrations. Some of the elite hotels in the country hire these ladies as a treat to their customers. Actresses like Bipasha Basu and Katrina Kaif are known to take an amount of Rs. 10 million just for a few hours for these shows.

Tollywood heroines usually were not consulted with such offers. However the trend has changed and this year we are gonna see a few actresses from the Telugu industry going live for the new year party.

Hot actress ‘Charmy’ was consulted by the biggest chain of hotels in the state to perform for the new year celebrations in their hotel. They were quite pleased when Charmy agreed to perform for them. However Charmy was pretty shrewd and the sum she demanded was too big for a Telugu actress. She demanded Rs. 1 million per hour. As the program was supposed to last for three hours, the hotel will have to pay Rs. 3 million for that night.

The hotel management agreed to pay what Charmy has demanded and thus a new trend is set in Andhra. Now probably we can see all the actresses for the new year parties in one of the hotels in the state.

After the Megastar, the person with huge mass appeal is Powerstar Pawan Kalyan. Pawan has few of the Tolywood most successful films to his credit. His latest movie ‘Jalsa’ was also featured in an International cinema weekly that publishes the movies that collected the largest amount at the boxoffice on the first week. Jalsa ranked 9 for collecting Rs. 21 crore in the first week of its release. This was the first movie from Tollywood that secured a place in top 10 in this magazine.

Now Pawan has set another trend in the Tollywood. His latest flick ‘Puli’ has attracted two corporate Giants. The Corporate world has realized the potential of Pawan’s movie and have decided to collaborate with this movie to promote their products.

Mitsubishi motors has sponsored a Pajero car to Pawan which will be used by him through out the film. The second brand is Reliance Communications which will publicize the film post release and has prepared publicity plans running into millions. Thus Pawan for the first time has secured multiple brands for his movie and has started a new trend in Tollywood.

Ravi Teja’s next flick ‘Neninthe’ is being directed by Puri Jagannath and has Seeya as the female lead. The film is currently on sets and is expected to release early next year.

On November 22nd the film crew flew to Bangkok to shoot a song (Bangkok seems to be Puri’s favorite - he shot ‘Chirutha’ movie in Bangkok). After finishing the song, the crew is expected to return to India on Wednesday and continue shooting here in Hyderabad.

However, there were huge riots and protests in Bangkok for the last few days. These protests were against the government of Bangkok and unfortunately our crew members have landed in Bangkok in the wrong time. The entire film unit has completed the shooting and reached the airport on Tuesday. It was reported that the protestors had attacked the Ravi Teja and Puri and hurted them. Later the film crew managed to escape to a nearby hotel and is currently residing there.

All the flights to Bankok had been canceled and this there is not way for the crew to return now. Attempts to contact them were in vain as all the communication to Bangkok was cut by the protesters. We can only hope that the crew returns home safe.

Mumaith Khan was insulted for the second time in one of her stage shows. Last year she was performing in a hotel for the new year party when the audience started bullying her on the stage. At that time Mumaith left the spot immediately and then filed a complaint against the guys who offended her.

A similar incident happened a few days ago. The Bar Lounge Pub has organized a dance show for its customers and Mumaith was invited to perform for this show. After Mumaith agreed to perform for them, the organizers publicized the event very well which resulted in a huge turnout. However the organizers allowed more than 200 people into their pub which could only hold a hundred people.

After the show started a few guys picked up their whisky and champagne bottles and spilled it on her. She was completely pissed off with this act and immediately left the place. Interestingly, this time the audience also tried to stop her from leaving the place. However the organizers helped her move out of the place.

Telugu actress Veda aka Veda Sharma aka Archana was recently found on a small MMS clip in which she is in bed with her boy friend. This MMS had been circulating in the private circles for quite a few days and has now become publicly available on the Internet. The video suggests that it has been shot by her boy friend without her knowledge.

 However, now it is being rumored that Veda has done this deliberately to get herself more popular. Veda has been in the film industry for almost six years but has never been quite successful except one or two flicks. So people say that she has tried to draw the attention of people by releasing her own video and creating a controversy with her boy friend.

Three years back Trisha was caught on camera while taking a shower and the video was circulated in a similar way. That incident made Trisha quite popular which ‘helped’ her in her career. Probably Veda is not following Trisha’s footsteps. Trisha, denied that the video belong’s to her and said the video is a morphing attempt. However, Veda is making no such attempts. She might be enjoying the publicity she is getting.

Film stars sometimes have very tough times when two consecutive movies demand different type of physical look. It is very difficult for them to quickly lose or gain weight in the short gap between two movies. But then, to do justice to the role and please the audience they will have to undergo this toil.

‘Three idiots’ is a film being directed by Raj Kumar Hiran. This movie is being produced in the Bollywood and will also be released in Telugu. The film stars Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi and Madhavan. The lady lead is Kareena Kapoor. Madhavan is selected to cater the south Indian audience as the producers plan to release this movie in South India also.

In this movie the three male leads act the students of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and thus the director suggested them to lose some weight so as to appear as Engineering students. Aamir Khan has built has body drastically for the movie Ghajini and now he has to lose all the weight and muscle he has added for Ghajini. Similarly Madhavan is also suggested to lose some weight before the shoot starts. So, Madhavan flew to England to participate in a special weight-losing program which helps in losing weight quickly.

The third hero in this movie is a bit lucky as the director excused him saying that his current shape fits the role very well!

Plagiarism is very rampant in the Indian film industry where movie makers blatantly copy the ideas of others and claim that these ideas are their own. Years ago when people were not quite aware of other film industries, no one ever knew that most of the films are being copied. However, today we have access to almost everything in earth and so are the movies. Most of us follow Hollywood as much as we do with Bollywood. Thus offlate there were many movies which were ‘caught’ for plagiarism.

However, there are a few directors who are known for their creativity and technical excellence. People hold high respect for them and expect ‘originals’ from them. Shankar is one such director who has consistently directed excellent films each with a different concept. Unfortunately his latest film ‘ROBO’ is a copy of a Hollywood based on an English Novel, while Shankar’s claims that he has written this story. Shankar is not different form the other people in the lot!

A few years ago it was rumored that Venkatesh and Pawan Kayan will be starred in the same film and at that time this news was confirmed by both the actors. However, this project never started and later the actors said that though they wanted to act together, they are not able to do it because of some technical problems. They expressed their interest towards multi-starrer movies and promised that they would do one such movie in the near future.

Finally the time has come. Recently, Suresh (Venkatesh brother) said that he as a story which involves two heroes which will soon go onto the sets. He said that Venkatesh will play one lead and they are yet to finalize the second hero. They have contacted Jr. NTR and Pawan Kalyan and it has been reported that, Pawan has agreed to do this movie and has given his call sheets.

Pawan is curently doing the movie ‘Puli’ after which he will work for this film. Venkatesh is also busy currently with the film ‘Marayogi’ being produced by Kamal Hassan. So in the near future, Tollywood audience will see the first multi-starrer in Telugu film industry.

It known since a long time that Krishnam Raju is playing a major role in the upcoming movie of Prabhas, ‘Billa’. This movie is being directed by Meher Ramesh, who failed in his first attempt as director with Kantri. Meher Ramesh was from the school of Puri Jagannath.

This is the first time for Prabhas to have his father, Krishnam Raju in his movie. Though nothing related to the role of Krishnam Raju in this movie is revealed , it is being rumored that Krishnam Raju is playing the role of a villain in this movie. This probably could be the first movie for Krishnam Raju in such a role in the last few decades.

The movie also has both Prabhas and Krishnam Raju playing dual roles. One role of Krishnam Raju is a good guy while the other is the villain of this movie. Wait to see this father and son compete on the silver screen.
