A few years back the highest allowed price in any theater in the state was Rs. 35/-

This price was later increased to sixty for the first two weeks, after which the price should be bought back to thirty five. This change was reasonable, as people who cannot afford the higher price can wait for two weeks and then watch the movie. Now, the government has decided to lift the restriction of getting back to a lower price, which means that the highest price ticket in the state is now sixty rupees, which is almost double the current price.

This move deters all the movie lovers who cannot afford the high price. The reasons behind the approval of this hike are obvious, with the government trying to garner some support from the film fraternity in the next general elections. The producers should realize that, hiking prices might finally result in higher losses as the number of people who come to the theaters will drop significantly.

This move might also boost the piracy industry as people start looking for cheaper forms of entertainment. It is high time that the government reconsider its decision!

Pawan Kalyan has delivered one of the biggest hits of 2008 - Jalsa. He then started the movie ‘Puli’ which is now named ‘Koumaram Puli’ which is coming out with huge expectations as is the case with every movie of Pawan. However, there were a few doubts regarding Pawan’s further movies. His brother Chiranjeevi has established a political party in the state and made Pawan the in-charge for the youth wing of this party. So, there were speculations that Pawan might not do another movie after Puli.

The fact is different. Pawan has already decided his next movie, including the data on which the movie will begin. This next movie will go onto the sets on the 27th of March, 2009. Another good news for Pawan’s fans is that this movie is being directed by the sensational director of Tollywood, Puri Jagannath. Puri and Jagannath have worked for the movie ‘Badri’ in the past and this will be their second movie. This movie will be produced by Ganesh.

Akkineni Nageswara Rao has risen to great heights in the Telugu Film Industry and is next only to the legend Late. Nandamuri Taraka Ramarao in his impact on the audience of Tollywood. This 84 year old is one of the very few living legends of Telugu Cinema. Being a film actor his life was always under scrutiny and people know a lot about ANR. But this is just limited to the professional life of ANR and very little is known about his personal life and the toil he underwent to attain the demigod status he enjoyed and is enjoying.

MAA TV, a popular Telugu television channel has decided to telecast a serial based on the lifestory of ANR. The channel had been telecasting a series of programs for the past few years, where in ANR talked about his experiences with other actors and the shooting experiences of all his movies. These episodes combined with a bit of his personal life will make the gist of the serial that is being planned. MAA TV has said that they have conducted enough research on the life history of ANR and would release this serial on a big scale.

Teja is a director who made a few successful films long long ago. Those few successes increased the weight of his head, so much so that he denied to direct bigger stars who, according to him will not listen to the director. He then went on directing movies with debutantes and now achieved a series of flops to his credits and is now popularly known as the most disastrous director in the industry.

After a series of flops, Teja finally made Keka released a month back and this has broken all his previous records and stood as the worst movie in his career and one among the few disasters in the history of Telugu Cinema. ‘Keka’ did not receive a rating of more than ‘1′ in any review!

But still, Teja believes that he is the best director in the industry and that his approach to movies is flawless. As the people in Tollywood feared to produce films with Teja as director, he started prodcing films under his own banner. Now that even those films flopped and he is out of money to produce any films, Teja decided to leap into Bollywood.

He believes that the audience of Tollywood do not have ‘proper’ taste to appreciate his films and thus he wanted to try his hand in the Bollywood. Teja! You did not appeal to a particular section of people and how do you expect to entertain the entire country. Better stay away from Bollywood and save the industry from your disasters.

Srikanth Addala shot to fame in the industry with his recent teenage love story ‘Kotha Bangaru Lokam’. Everything is set now for this young director to direct the biggest hero in Tolyywood Chiranjeevi. Wondering how he would direct Chiranjeevi who quit movies and is busy with his political party? Well, Srikanth will not be directing a movie but will be directing ad films and documentaries for Chiranjeevi’s new political party Praja Rajyam.

Srikanth met Chiranjeevi a few days back and it was said that Chiranjeevi was highly impressed by the ideas of the young director and also his social consciousness. So, Chiraneevi approved Srikanth Addala as the director for the publicity films of Praja Rajyam and it was also reported that Chiranjeevi paid a considerable amount to Srikanth for these films.

Sheela made her debut in the Telugu film industry with ‘Sitakoka Chiluka’ and did a couple of films after that which also failed like her first movie. Fortunately, she was casted in Allu Arjun’s Parugu movie which showed the real beauty of Sheela to the Telugus. She also received many critical acclaims for excellent performance in this movie and is now recognized as a beautiful lady and a talented actress. She is now playing the second lead in Ram’s ‘Maska’ and Ram, as a actor had something different to say - not her beauty nor her performance.

Ram talking about Sheela said that she is one of the most committed and hardworking person he had ever come across. He went on saying that she is the most professional actress he had ever worked with and also added that she is a very quick learner. Not just himself, but the entire crew of Maska was in praise for this lady’s ‘character’, said Ram.

Mumaith Khan who started off as a regular item girl in the Bollywood had fortunately turned out to be the most successful item girl in the Tollywood, thanks to Puri Jagan’s Pokiri item number. Since then, it has become a custom in Tollywood to have a Mumaith’s item number in almost all the movies. She is now promoted to lead roles from item numbers and was already featured as heroine in a few films. Though she is an ‘item girl’ and though she shot up to fame quickly, there were no rumors about her in the industry.

Finally, a ‘rumor’ started which said that Mumaith is seeing Khaiyyum. If you do not know who he is, Khaiyyum is the younger brother of popular comedy actor Ali. Yesterday, Mumaith was asked about this affair and she vehemently denied the entire issue as a rumor created by the print media. She went on accusing the media for creating such rumors.

It is interesting to note that the sources of this rumor, chose a muslim guy for this muslim girl. Even rumors have some logic!

Usha Kiran Movies is one of the prestigious production houses in the Tollywood. Unfortunately the banner delivered a series of failures after which the banner stopped producing films for a long time. Now, Usha Kiran Movies is back and made it to the box office hit list with the movie, ‘Nachavule’ directed by Allari Ravi (director of the films Allari, Anasuya etc). Though this was low budget movie, the movie had good openings and a very good word-of-mouth which indicate that this will turn out to be a commercial success.

The director’s novel story and approach to the film making is one reason for the success. The more important reason is Ravi’s novel publicity. He has taken special care in the publicity of the movie and carried on the entire publicity without the images of any of the actors from the film. All the posters of this movie carried the pictures of animals like squirrels, monkeys, dogs etc. This has attracted the attention of the audience who were curious to know who the actors are in this film. The lead pair in this film are debutantes and you get to see them only after entering the theater.

Ravi was praised all over, not just for the making of the film but also for the innovative approach of taking the film closer to the public.

Laya is one of the very few Telugu actresses in the Telugu film Industry, which is primarily dominated by ladies from the Bollywood or Koliwood. Even Laya was not very successful compared to her counterparts, but had a decent career. Two years back she married an NRI and left to the United States. She was away from the media in these two years and very few people know that she gave birth to a baby (a girl named Sloka).

Now Laya is planning to come back into the glamor field. This time it is not through movies but the Television field. It was reported that she signed with the Eenadu Television network to host a singing competition. However, this is not just any other singing competition. This competition is named ‘Black’ and what makes it different from any other television shows in the country is the fact that, all the competitors will be visually impaired. The choice of Laya for this program has a reason. Laya  played the role of a visually impaired girl in a film named ‘Preminchu’ which was critically acclaimed.

Its been a rumor since the IPL time that the Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is dating Talugu and Tamil actress Laxmi Rai. As a continuation, Tamil media has published that the actress met Dhoni in his hotel room on the last day of the test match between India and England held at Chennai, earlier this month. Of course, like any other actress, Laxmi Rai vehemently denied the news as a simple rumor.

She said that these rumors popped out at the time of IPL and had died down. Now that Dhoni has come back to Chennai, these rumors resurfaced and will die in a few days, said Laxmi. She said she ceased giving any importance to rumors of this kind, which pop up often.

However, she did not deny that she is a ‘good friend’ of MS Dhoni. She said she liked Dhoni as a co-worker during IPL and as a cricketer and reiterated that their relation ended there.
